Thumbs down OEM floor mats

Hey guys, I've been driving Porsches now for approximately 8 years now and have an odd observation. The OEM maps don't seem to last. I'm getting ready for my third set. It seems I am constantly wearing a little hole with my left heel while using the clutch. Does anyone else notice the reduced durability of the OEM mats? I'm a little leary to try Lloyd's (who have a deeper and stronger **** if you will) because I hate the clip attachment, which I've used on other cars. The OEM velcro attachment has ALWAYS stayed in place for me and facillitates removal. Any thoughts?

I think ALL OEM mats are made to be replaced every few years. They are not the best carpet quality, and when you think about it, they do what they are supposed to - protect the carpet underneath.

I wonder if you can transplant the velcro circle from the OEM mat to the Lloyds?

imo lloyd mats are superior to oem. the attachment is no big deal. i purchased a set of aluminum race mats and place them over the lloyds for everday driving and remove them on weekends for the occasional use. keeps your mats like new.

nyc, I'm getting the same deal, but can't complain since Porsche's mats aren't any more or less special than any other OEM mat out there. I wonder if Sunset sells them.

Well said. You're right, it does the job. I guess I'm just being cheap. I'll have to check with the dealer and see if they can sell one mat at a time. What bothers me is that some of the older Porsche mats used to have reinforced carpet under the heels. I guess they went the way of the dodo when it came time to cut production costs.

I think EVERYTHING is getting cheaply made now, and with car manufacturers, saving $5 each mat by using lower-quality carpet adds up quickly. Shame, but easily fixable by buying a set of Lloyds!

Porsche only sells the mats as a four piece set for front and rear . Your price for the set is $151.77. I have them in stock

if i did own a porsche store, i'd be WAY nice (professional) online and be that salesman that sells like crazy with crazy awesome customer service.

nah i was just being lazy and copied from an email from philcoy@sunsetimports.com. looks like i need to go with the lloyd set since i have no use for more rear mats.

Are you just looking for front mats?

If so and you do not have a cab/targa with the Bose footwell sub you can get a set of OEM Boxster Mats for $100.

Same mat and the set is just the fronts.
