My girl with her dancing shoes on
Ok, here is my small contribution to this thread. 1999 MK1 Factory Aero
Yes she has big feet but she is very light on them
Front tire is a 275 mounted on a 9.5" rim and the rears are 315 mounted on an 11.5" rim. Wheels are 3 piece Fikse Mach V weighing 18lbs front and 18.5 lbs rear.
Enjoy

Well I have been contemplating the MK1 kit for my 99 for several months. The problem is this.....the value on 996s keeps dropping, and dropping more daily it seems....retail on 99s with 28k miles equals 27-30k.....If I spend 5k on the kit and another 1500-2500 to paint and install....then what is gained other than a Mk1'd car that looks better (and I agree it does look better sans the rear bumper gizmos., I am not sure of). Now for me at least I got a deal on my 99. But I am not seeing anymore value added by adding 7500.00 in bodywork....at most maybe another 1000.00. And Geez...then 19s on top of that - so another 4-6k with wheels and tires. So is it worth it to me to do this....probably not, but was any of it (plenum intake, lights, SSk, shifter, and a bunch more) worth it? You betcha....
or just wait for a low mileage used TT in the 40-50k range....which they are falling to around here......hmmmmmmmmmm

Yoops, $40-50K is a lot more money than $8K.
The car is a toy, value it as such. I would do it if you plan on keeping the car a while. If you plan on dumping it in a year, maybe not so much.

understand the Toy issue...I built a World Challenge Mustang for the Street in the 90s with over 50k in mods on it....hate to tell you what it sold for.....my point is that I would have almost 40-50k in it by the time I did all the mods like Mk1, 19s and full exhaust....I already have put close to 8k in other mods.....all in a 996 that I can only get 31k max out of.....For this kind of money it would be smarter IMO just to get a TT and be done with it....But the MK1 kit sure is sweet.....especially with 19s....
