I'm not a fan of overly thick paddington bear stuffing wheels like above.
i did get a chance to drive a 996 with the optional OEM euro version thicker, smaller steering wheel. fantastic. if i didn't have my school bus CF OEM wheel to match my other OEM CF bits, i'd go for this all leather version no question.

The 996 wheel is just so damn skinny, I love the feel of the 930S wheel in my 86 and I drove a friends 3 series that had a nice "robust" wheel today, got me thinking.

I had my 3 spoke done in alcantara and added 1/16" to it and its perfect. It is the same thickness as the M5 wheel in my X5. He does a great job. Not affiliated etc. His name is Don and you can email them at dallassteeringwheel.com

Maybe it's the angle, but that looks hella thick! I think the factory Turbo 3-spoke looks perfect on any 996. Any thicker and it starts to look like Ah-nold. On the flip-side, my MF steering wheel is way too thin. An Acura sedan shouldn't have a thicker factory wheel than any 911!

Too bad the 930 only looks good in the 930. It's hella dated.
I believe Audion19s has the thicker Euro steering wheel in his car. Not sure if he'd be willing to take a pic.

I had Alan pad my wheel and cover my airbag. I had to return it twice and it took over a year to get it back. I'm still not completely satisfied but I don't dare return it again. Alan is a nice guy and he will keep trying every time you send it back, but craftsmanship on a budget is never easy. If you don't mind "slightly" crooked stitching, "tiny" lumps under the leather and "slight" asymetrical fit, Alan can give you a nice wheel for a nice price. If you want perfection, you need to keep looking.

Well, That settles that... guess I will look for the euro wheel.
Thanks for the feedback!
