Leave key in ignition = dead battery?
I did a quick search and I found one case were someone discovered that leaving their key in the ignition would drain the battery.
I just bought a new battery last week. I parked the car for the weekend in the garage Friday night, I am sure everything was off. Monday morning the battery is dead, not enough power to even open the trunk. Jumped the car pretty easily, drove it to work and now everything seems fine.
So leaving the key in the ignition for a prolonged period (2 ½ days in this case) will drain the battery?

for what its worth my '03 when the car is shut off the park lights will stay on until the key is removed from the ignition.
mind you it's a canadian car so things might be different for you.
happy motoring.

Yes, leaving the key in the ignition will drain the battery dead in just a few days. A FOAF tells me it's even true on his brand new Cayman.

Why would you leave the key in the ignition in the first place? That's the first place a thief will look in your garage. Better to stick it under a mat if you must leave it in the car at all.

Why will leaving the car unlocked drain the battery? I seldom lock my car as it's in the garage or at work most of the time.
Never leave the key in it, though...

after u read that story, u may want to keep the key in the house.

I've left my '03 unlocked with no key while I was out of town for two weeks. No problems when I got back. It started up nice and strong. I could argue that leaving it locked (with the motion sensor on) would drain the battery though.
