Nice, fun car. Congrats. I'm sorry about the 996 though... I read your troubles with it.

Nice ride, enjoy. And the best part... it has a warranty (not that you will probably need it)

You'll be back. Lots of people have "resigned" from this forum only to come back a year later with another Porsche...

Judging by the slightly lower spoiler height on the new Evo, I'll be willing to buy one in four more generations when they finally decide to lose it entirely. They're GREAT cars but look so godawful stupid with what appears to be a box kite strapped to the trunklid.

Sorry, UFO, don't mean to be so blunt, but the new Evo looks like a cross between the bad parts of any current Audi sedan and a WRX STi.

i don't understand how the Evo will take your troubles away, some jealous ***** will notice it and......

But all the best, I just can't get over the front?

You had some bad luck with your Porsche purchase and it only got worse. New car, complete coverage...but I do agree with the front, it somehow negates any performance gains to me. Good luck anyway with your new X.

I haven't hit the track yet, but did a little slalom test this morning. The feeling's a little vague and it seems to lag a little when responding to steering inputs. There is more body roll than the VIII but just as much traction. Really need to get the thing on the track to get a good feel for the AYC.

I don't doubt it. However, I will not touch another 996 with a long pole. Now, a 997 is definitely on the books in the future but a little out of my price range right now.

The regular Evo has a small spoiler, mine has the SSS package which, sadly, includes the larger wing. It's OK you don't like the looks, you don't have to drive it .

The black car is an Evolution VIII and the white one an Evolution X. The Evolution VII, VIII & IX all shared the same body type but the X is an all new body and engine. The black one actually left me today so I'm back to just the white one .

Sure, I couldn't agree more, especially the taco wing that everyone seems to love. I think too many people have themselves convinced that these ridiculous wings don't look silly just because they installed it on a Porsche.

Oh really, and what's wrong with the MK1 GT3 wing? I'm not convincing myself of anything except the fact that a correctly kitted 996/997 looks the dogs.

At the end of the day to each there own....

The new 4B11 seems to be making more power on stock turbo than any of the previous models. American tuners are already over 100 WHP over stock and the car's been out a few scant weeks. However, the 4G63 was a proven bulletproof motor (we'll forget about the DSMs) so we'll see how it holds up over time.

The '08 X is already in Canada. It's a little pricey though.
GSR $41,498
MR $47,498
MR Premium $51,498

Not I say I. Yo quiero TACOS
spread your wings and fly, love the look of 996's with almost any kind of wing. IMO it finishes to look, the body style/rear end was made for it.
If anything I always thought the retractable looks a bit cheap when up.
