Default Wheel alignment shouldnt cost more that $1000 for our cars

I just installed PSS9s on my 996TT and I'm looking for an alignment that doesn't charge $1000. Any suggestions?

I just went through an alignment nightmare.
After some tire repair and balancing, I decided to let a shop align it- they completely f***it up!
Driving out of the shop, the car immediately felt different, life floating from side to side,
and not that "extremely planted on the ground feel" that a C4S has.
They had charged $75.00.

Back to Porsche Stealer, they realigned it, and the before print out shows an all EDIT: misaligned 911 C4S,
both rear and front.
Porsche charge was around $400.00 (Pfaff).
Back on the road, the car felt much better, but pulling to the right.
Back to Porsche, and they realigned it, and surprisingly enough they wanted to charge me again!
Eventually they agreed to no charge, and realigned it again. This time, there is a very very very slight
pull to the right, but Pfaff says they cannot further correct it.

Not perfect, but acceptable.

Most shops align certain cars well, mostly American, but if they are not aware of Porsche alignment
specs, they will simply do more damage than good.

I recently had the dealer do it when they ran a special for 279....normally 450 they said. Geez...that's insane. However, I had way too much negative camber and was shredding new tires. The difference was fantastic....tracked perfectly.

I had my local mechanic (not an indy Porsche mechanic) do a 4 wheel alignment, I gave him all the camber numbers and all went well - except the idiot lights came on because the steering wheel sensor triggered it and they didn't have the Porsche diagnostic tool - I took it to the dealer and they reset the light, which cost me about $100 even with that charge it was less than $200.

I need to find a local indy place that can do it... $400+ in NY area is stupid.

Depends on what kind of alignment you are getting. A good quality alignment on a lift with with computer assisted adjustments should be in the $150-200 range.

If you want a serious race alignment on a lift with turn plates, smart strings, etc.., prepare to pay a bit more.

To say that an alignment should be no more than $100 (1 hour of labor) just isn't a credible statement. Think about all the adjustments, the order they must be done in and the changed one can make on another. YOu have several variable to play with (Camber, Caster, Toe are the big ones).

I did my 4-wheel alignment at RUF Auto-center in Dallas for $140 with final print-out of Pre- and Post numbers. This is for a normal street alignment but they can also do Race-Specs alignment if desired. I was happy with the results as the car was more stable and confident after the alignment work. The Tech would test drive the car after the 1st adjustments then put the car back on the lift and check again. I will go back there again if I need to service my car.
