Fellow 996ers, the time has come for me to part with my 996 -- for a 997. I apologize in advance for no pics (yet), as my family and I are away on vacation for the holidays. I actually just finalized the deal over the phone today, so I won't be picking up the car until I get home next week. It's an '06 997S Coupe with 11K miles, arctic silver (of course
) with black interior, 6-spd, and the options are:
Full leather
Adaptive sport seats
NAV for PCM
BOSE audio
Heated seats
PCCB
Sport chrono
Sport shifter
3-spoke multi-function steering wheel
Metal door sill insignia
CD changer
19" sport designs
Parrot bluetooth (aftermarket)
Escort SRX radar/laser (aftermarket)
Although not my first Porsche, the '99 996 was my first 911, and I've loved/enjoyed her for 6+ years. I really thought she'd be it, but I just couldn't resist the seduction of those much sexier hips on the 997. The new mistress is HOT!!!
Will post pics soon.

Charlie - Congrats! Good for you!
I guess you'll be spending some time on the 997 Forum in the future. You are welcome to come back and do a little "slummung" with the 996'ers every now and then.

Ben, some people just prefer the feel of a car, the weight advantage or whatever it is over the looks; I would not get a C4S just because of the hips. IMO if it's not a daily driver in a wet, cold climate your don't want AWD in a sports car.

Thanks, hwk72!
Ben, I hear ya on the C4S hips. I didn't mean the 997S hips were necessarily wider (are they?) than the 996 narrow-body, it's that they're much more visually pronounced. I've always thought the 993 had the sexiest hips of all 911s, and the 997 bears more resemblance to that design, that's all. As with the 997 C4S, believe it or not, some of us actually prefer Jessica Alba's hips over J-Lo's.

and totally predictable for people to bring up the whole awd v. rwd debate. i've put many miles on both types of cars and it's a coin toss since both offer a unique set of values to the driving experience. more fun is completely subjective.
yes i'd take a gt3 over a c4s, but no i wouldn't take a carrera rwd over a carrera awd (hips). yes i'd take a gt3 rs (hips) over a gt3. more art, less science.
yes i'd take a Ferrari 360 modena over a 997 gt3. yes i'd take an F430 over a GT2. yes i'd take an F-car over any Porsche equivalent.

looks like i'm pretty much following the $ expenditure curve up.
