So does that mean that we'll soon be seeing a "I bought my 996 when they were expensive" faction?

It's been this way since I've been here. Just make sure you agree with who barks the loudest and you'll be fine.

Man, did someone slip too much rum in the eggnog?

For the record, I'm just an average guy. I'm in my-mid 40's, married 20+ years, make a comfortable, but not excessive, income, only own a couple of houses, my wife is not a 6 foot tall model (but, I think she looks fine, and if she were 6 foot tall, we'd make an odd couple, since I'm only 5'-something myself - you know the saying "When you're nose to nose, your toes are in it, when you're toes to toes..").. I'm haven't made millions investing in offshore real estate, or google stock. I don't party with Joey Carrera or Paris whats-her-face.

I guess I just don't belong here

Except for one thing: compared to 90% of the world, I'm rich. I have clothes on my back, a warm dry bed to sleep in, more than enough food and drink to keep me happy, my wife and family love me and I have enough good friends to share some laughs with. Life could be a whole lot worse.

Oh yeah, and

HAVE A HAPPY (and safe) FREAKIN' NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

I think it's related to the weather. Too many sleeping 996s out there . . . (not mine!)

Guys... please. Average? The median income for a working male in the USA according to your 2005 census was just under $35,000 a year. Making an even hundred would put you well north of the 90th percentile for the USA. For the world, it's almost incalculable. We are rich, and very lucky. Bickering and false modesty disguise what these discussions are really about, which is who's richER. Somebody called it "locker room talk", which I think is about right.

AllI know is, I'd have a lot more $$ to brag about if I drove a Kia and didn't race/daily drive 2 Porsches. Hint: the racing's what kills you

There is always the perspective of having a wife with a horse hobby! And you think Porsche service fees are high!

Bonus points if she rides English. Then you've got the whole wardrobe thing to finance...

Horses are expensive, my lovely wife has a more expensive hobby. It's called shopping!

Agree with all above, and yes I am a early 40 year old with just one house! Yikes, I'm falling behind. I am very fortunate also with family, kids, a few toys (not a ton) a good paying job (a lot into stocks, not fabulous mansions) and I wish everyone a happy and fun NEW YEAR!

Your hobby (Porsche) and your wife's hobby (horses) have something in common. For either hobby, when you have to pay for service, it is guaranteed that someone is going to get f'ked! The main difference is that at least the horse gets to enjoy it!
