Default 2001 carrera cab hard top

can the hard top of a 2001 carrera cab be adjusted?
their is about a 1/2" gap or so where the hard sits a little above the body.
i was looking to see if their is an adjustment to lower the hard top closer to the body of the car of if that is just the way it is made to sit?

Yep, and if you think about it, you probably wouldn't want it any other way.. since they're separate assemblies, the tendency is to flex/move separately from one another.. any closer than the gap that's there, and the two pieces are likely to come in contact with each on bumpy roads, etc.. Which probably won't do either of them any good. I'm sure this is the reason no painted surfaces come in contact with each other when the hardtop is installed.

It's actually to protect the soft top folding mechanism that requires the back-end of the hard top to rest only on the two screws and not on the body of the car as the whole area contains of moving parts as you can see when you open/close the soft top.

I guess I've a custom paint green Cab. The factory intended it originally to be blue - hehe!

Hwk72,
Green is in the Blue family. You don't have to bite the bullet like Ryan and get it painted.

That's funny, the hard top I bought about 15 months back was dark blue too and my wife once made the joke that I should paint my car in the color of the hard top and not the other way round.

Hey Tim,
OT...
Seems like you are getting a lot of mentions on the car. GL. I think I found someone that can bring that car trailer north.

Andy, thanks for the compliment. I figure with my luck, I'll sell the car and the next day land a job!

I am glad you got the car trailer transportation worked out.

How do you know Tim?

... but it's a funny story how I got the car : One day I called my wife and told her that I'm looking at a Porsche after work; she said: "OK look at it but DON'T buy it!" "Ops , darling I bought the car" - my reaction 2 hours later. I showed her the pics on the web and she said (still a little angry): "Ah, nice color at least!"

4 days later, I arrived with the car at home. She said: "Hey, that's not the car from the pics; this car is green!" I said: "So what - I don't see the color anyway, I'm most of the time inside the car and I'm color-blind ." Now I'm stuck to a sea foam green 911, especially as I see that you have trouble to sell your beautiful blue 911.

My CEO still makes jokes about my car; everytime I see him he asks me if I already got a bucket of paint and I usually reply: "I'm still waiting for the extra bonus boss, to afford the paint job."
