Help Please...Airbag Module Removal and Hood Release Lever
I would appreciate any advice on how to remove the driver's side hood/trunk release so I can pull out the carpet. I would love to do it without breaking it. I removed the three plugs on the side and it still is not apparent how to remove it. The other side lifted up after removing two torx screws.
I would also appreciate any advice on what type of tool is required to remove two of the four nuts securing the airbag module to the tunnel. They are unlike any nut that I have ever seen. Do they require a Porsche dealer only tool, so I can't do it myself?
Thanks for any help.

I just removed this assembly last weekend.. Once you remove the three plugs there is a 5mm allen screw that you need to loosen. You don't need to take them all the way out (I did). The assembly is sloted so once they are loose you can lift it up. Besides those screws there are also a few Christmas tree style clips that hold the assembly down. See the attached pic.. I hope that helps.
As far as the airbag control module, your right, I've never seen anything like that before and would assume that the dealer might have the special tool required.
Thanks
Keith

Mark - would one of these Gator Grip sockets work on the airbag control module nut? Just a thought.

Tim, that looks like it would work perfect. I'm going to call Silver Star Recycling and see what they use. If I can't find anything local, I will be ordering a "Gator Grip". It's a pretty clever device. There are few things more frustrating than not having the correct tool to do a job. Thanks for the info.

I forgot to mention that they have a 3/4" and a 1.25" socket. I can't tell how large the "special" nut is on the airbag control module. I would suggest you measure the nut to make sure you get a socket in the correct size.
