Default Where to find a storage cubby for center console

I have a 2000 996 with the upgraded sound system so in my center console I have a CD holder and the extra sound gear. Is there a place other then the dealer to find the simple cubby that I could replace the cd holder with? Thanks in advance.

Lower or upper? I have a left over console. Happy to unload it to you.

I'm looking for a cubby also (rolla has dibs), but need the one that replaces the cassette holder-lower bay. Why in the world would porsche put a tape holder in a 996. I don't even think I could find a cassette if I tried!

I also have a 6-disk changer if anyone is interested in purchasing. I installed an i-pod instead.

I have a 6-disk changer available, too.

How do you remove the CD holder so you can put in a "stuff holder"?

Open all 5 CD trays, grab all of them with both hands and pull straight out. Slide in the "stuff" holder (upper storage tray). Total process takes 8.47 seconds.

The part number for the upper storage tray (a.k.a. bin) is 996.552.253.01.01C and will run $30 to $35 at the dealer.

I'm going to wear special kevlar fiber impregnated glove inserts that add 5-6HP (hand power) at the fingers. I estimate I can shave 1 second from the process. The inserts only run about $20. Best performance mod I ever got for my gloves.

I did this a few months ago. Very easy. Difference is the lower has a slight curve at the bottom.
