how would u convince your wife to buy things?

Buy the boxster for the wife, the SC for yourself, and keep her family car as a spare - no problem (especially if she can't drive a stick shift)
When the SC needs work on it, buy another Boxster for yourself, and spend 2 years "fixing" the SC until it is perfect for track days.
Enjoy.

update:
had a conv. with wife last night.
she indicated that no more toys.
she wants a normal sedan. so if the van is out, she can use the sedan. i think my plan-b is audi A4.
but i really can't warm up to it.
now what to do?
plus, i told my wife i got some 18" carreraIII wheels for $200 with winter and summer tires.

i think now i need to stick to the story that 2.5 boxster is the best money, cheap, fun, easy to main.(yeal, they only swap engine, no hands dirty rebuild ), won't lose $$ compare to A4.
