Default Thoughts?? 996 TT Cab or 997 C4S or C2S Cab

I have the "itch" to make a move from my 99' 996 cab.

I am looking at either a used 996 TT Cab or a used 997 C4s or C2s Cab. Any thoughts? Price is about the same. Is it worth passing on the additional HP to get into the 997? Thoughts of resale down the road? I really like the look of the 997 and the interior as well but the 996 TT with the vents is really not to hard to look at!

I only drive on nice, top down days so I don't put a lot of miles on. I know I will be having the "itch" again in a few years so resale is important.

Thanks!

Nice top down days are usually dry weather days so you probably don't need AWD. Have you test driven both cars (996tt and 997 C2S)? I personally don't think the additional 60hp are worth it passing on the updated car (997), so I'd go for a 997C2S (if possible with PASM and sport chrono plus).

after having driven the 997TT i could never ever begin to consider the 996TT. the c4s is as fast as the 996tt in the straights sans lag.

with that said, i'd go for the 997C4S or save up a bit more for the GTThrizzle.

Ben,
really?...hmm, what straights are you talking about; the track? Because, I was at Mosport last Wednesday and on the back straight even when I came out of turn 5 faster than them, the 2 box stock 996TT that were there would reel me in pretty quickly and I'd have to let them by and I was going flat out in my C4S. I don't think that the 997C4S is that much faster than the 996 version...but I might be wrong.
Now in the curves, it's a different story and the lighter 996C4S might have a slight advantage over the 996TT.
I like the 996TT, but I prefer the 996C4S. Best looking 996 IMHO and PLENTY fast on the street and on the track for even the above average driver.

997 C4S quarter in 13.2
996 TT quarter in 12.4.

Google is your friend.

of course, my 996 C4S does it in 11 sec, totally stock.

Click on User CP, then Buddy/Ignore Lists, then add Benjamin Choi in your Ignore List.

The BS is smelling all the way over here from these wanna-be kids driving their father's cars.

My opinion on the 996TT/997, etc... the 996TT is heavier than the 996 C4S...but the 997 C4S is heavier than the 996 C4S. If you want light and fun that looks good, a 997 C2S Aero might be "it."

996 TT is a better platform for mods, and has already gone through a longer depreciation period.
Depends on how much HP you want. Not a lot of chance to go in excess of 500HP with the normally aspirated 997.

if resale is important, then go with the 996...it's already taken the major hit.

However, the interior of the 997s is much nicer (IMO) and you may be happier cruising around in the newer car. Also, since you're looking exclusively at cabs, I'm assuming that all-out speed is not the primary concern, but having fun and cruising with the top down. Also, warranty issues may come into play.

IMO, it sounds like you'd be happier with a 997. Amongst those 2, I'd go with the 997 C4S---looks super schhhweeeett!

Good luck, pics are required once you make your choice!

True! Sad, but true!

Unfortunately, having Ben on my Ignore list dosen't help much if you guys keep "quoting" his posts. Then I still have to read his BS!

996 turbo gives you performance, and if you are into modifying, then I have to say the turbo will give you a lot of potential. Thats the route I took and I have not looked back...

But for styling, and not considering performance.... the 997 may be the one to go for. Sorry for the vague answer, but that is really what it boils down to.
