Errr.... lets run a 997 C4s with same down payment/price point against my turbo.... or a 997 turbo against mine

Honestly I can understand why you’re asking, but at the end of the day you have to do what makes most sense to you. Whatever one you buy...996 or 997 make sure you get a PPI. In response to one member ...My TT does not lag power anywhere.... Pull beside and Ill show you how much lag my TT has.

I went from 996 to 997CS. The turbo has never been all the appealing to me for whatever reason. I just prefer the 2 wheel natural aspiration. Anyway, to me I think the interior upgrades to the 997 are worth it. I am 6'4 and the seat location in the 997 has made head room and seat position much better for me. I also like the more streamlines dash of the 997. Unless you really want the speed of the turbo which I can totally understand that need then I personally would prefer the 997S version. However, i don't think there is a wrong choice. It is about what fits your needs best.

Ben, there's a reason no one takes anything you say seriously...

Anyhow, I drove the 997 CarreraS, THEN I drove the Turbo. No question, Turbo was my choice.

Also, 996TT and C4S are the same weight.

Turbo 996 Cab.

I am looking at either a used 996 TT Cab or a used 997 C4s or C2s Cab. Any thoughts? Price is about the same. Is it worth passing on the additional HP to get into the 997? Thoughts of resale down the road? I really like the look of the 997 and the interior as well but the 996 TT with the vents is really not to hard to look at!

I only drive on nice, top down days so I don't put a lot of miles on. I know I will be having the "itch" again in a few years so resale is important.

Thanks!

Are you sure about that?

Think about it... they're both the same body and chassis but the TT has two intercoolers, two turbos, and extra piping.

You're telling me it weighs the same as a C4S w/o any of that stuff?

Flat-6.net shows the 996TT at 3396lbs, and the C4S at 3241lbs. I don't want to argue actual weight but instead, look at the RELATIVE weights.

How can a 996TT with the extra parts weigh the same as a N/A C4S?

I just went from a C4 cab to an X-50 TT Cab. In a word, WOW!!. And for a few $$, I can chip it and have as much power as the 997TT. There are some great deals to be had on the 996TT as most of them have already taken a big hit on price. Go for the TT. You won't be sorry.

Both have the same curb-weight according to Edmunds 3395Lbs. I guess they could be wrong, that's what I was going off of.

That's consistent with flat-6.net's 996TT weight... maybe Edmunds assumed it's the same for the C4S since they're the same body.

It's not believable due to my reasons above.

Dude, no way a turbo and fittings are 150Lbs. I believe it's closer to 30 Lbs total. The 996turbo makes up the weight by using hollow wheels.

Edit: Info I found weight on a 997 Turbo Turbocharger unit, "The turbocharger weighs 15 pounds and is made from 57 individual components. ".
http://www.europeancarweb.com/featur...9_history.html

A 996TT unit is around 3 to 7lbs more at the most.

GG

02+ TT have solid spoke wheels like the C4S's (02+). Like I said, I don't want to argue actual weights but instead, RELATIVE weights.

They talk about JUST the turbos. They don't talk about the intercoolers and piping. So, if the 996TT turbos are more than 15lbs JUST for the turbos, if you add the intercoolers and piping... it would be ALOT more than "just" 30lbs more.

2 turbos @ 15lbs = 30lbs already
2 intercoolers = ?
Extra radiator = ?
Piping = ?

It goes back to the point that the 996TT and the C4S are not the same weight given similar options (wheels, leather, etc).

FYI....the TT weighs more. It's not just the turbos that make it a TT.

Even today the same thing holds true. The TT comes in at roughly 250# more than the C4S.

I'd go for the C2S.
Less weight than TT and 4S, less money, more hp than a non-S.

Nope. The only difference in a C4S and Turbo IS THE TURBO!

Quick Reply: Thoughts?? 996 TT Cab or 997 C4S or C2S Cab
