Default What is your trap speed?

I am curious to find out what is the trap speed is on C2s and C4s. I have a 99 C4 and also an E46M3.

A couple of days ago, I was coming back from dinner with a couple of extra people on the M3. We encountered a fellow P owner and we played a bit. I thought he would pull on me hard specially after 60mph and considering I had an extra 300-400 lbs of weight than he did (in addition to the weight difference).

To my surprise, all the way to 130 or so I actually gained on him a bit.

What is the trap speeds on C2's? His car seemed to be an 01-02...had some ver nice HRE's and had the factory aero kit on. Very nice blue with a 911 badge on the back and a PSE from what I could tell.

I am by no means saying the M3 is a faster car, but it could be. I am just curious about what the trap speeds are STOCK on our 996's vs. an E46M3...thanks!!

You won't find many here who drag their cars (more concerned with lap times than trap times). However, according to the car mags 3.4's trap from 104-107 and 3.6's trap from 107-112.

Keep it on the track.

I understand that, but I think usually a "trap" speed is a good indicator of what the outcome of a race would be from a roll. This sounds about right since M3's trap about 105-107....seemed to be a fair match against a 3.4....but would probably fall short to a 3.6....if all is regular with the cars/stock form....thanks.

This is something I would like to know to. I've encountered several M3's and I've never outran anyone of them with my ~280 hp. What would happend in every occation is I would pull away with about a cars legnth or maybe a little more but then the M3's would gain and finally when over 200km/h they pass.

Why does it matter? You can take the same car with 10 different drivers and get 10 different trap speeds. Judge you car's performance on it's own with you in the seat and not compared to others. Whether you drag or track, driver experience is what will get your car to perform better. Most drivers can't get a trap speed even close to what the best driver gets.\

It's kinda like horse power. If you can't deliver it to the gound and properly control it, it will not increase your performance.

It is the time it takes you car to get from the starting line to the finish line at 1/4 mile. Many people simply think that the only skill that is needed is to simply floor the car and hang on.

like i've said time and again, the carreras including the 997 3.6 are an even match with the E46 M3 esp in the straights.

muahaha

True, until 155 and the Bimmer shuts down for safety...
