As mentioned in PM, I'll start looking for the cap tomorrow.
I'll put it in the mail and let you know.

I'm in the same situation as myrmidon. Searched the Niagara Plastics site and couldn't find it and could not successfully email the rep. If anyone can help out it would be appreciated.
Thanks

The sales rep at Niagra Plastics contacted me months after I received them. I think they finally caught on with giving away free samples.

I am the only one on the board who has not done this.

Can someone just give me the dimensions?

I have caps like that at work in just about any size. I will try to hook up some newbies if I have the size.

I think you would get the most accurate dimension from the actual "hole" the cap is going into.

I measured and it's about 1-3/4"

Cory - don't worry about the Orange Cap mod... 'cuz it will not work on Tip cars. Sorry, dude, you are at a dis-advantage again!

BTW - I'm just kidding! It will work in your car!

Hi All,

While I no longer have my 996, when tidying up my garage I discovered that I still have a single Orange Cap (picture below). If anyone is looking for one, please PM me.

Regards,
Olaf

If the opening is the same as the 997's - the cap to a Mobil One 5qt oil jug fits as well. It's not red and doesn't say Fabspeed or cost $200 but it still works.

For those that want more info - look for Helmholtz Resonator in your search.

I did the helmholtz delete about a year ago. I went with the Oatey test plug and a 996 silicone tube off ebay. I ended up taking it off because it felt like it lost low end torque. I revisited this mod about 2 weeks ago after I cleaned the throttle body and changed the air filter. I noticed that in 4th gear when I'm going past 5,500 rpm it takes longer to rev up than without it. I have since put it back to stock and it climbs faster now. Anyone else experience this?

I used the cap to a one quart castrol oil container. Fits perfectly. then I just re-installed the stock elbow. It does make a cool noise around 5k rpm with WOT.
