Default Replacement Motor from Porsche

Hi everyone, Due to a thrust-bearing failure, I just had an engine replacement on my 99- 6speed 55K miles, directly from Porsche. Total invoice just over $13,000. I'm a little unclear as to the warranty that comes with that motor. Has anyone had a replacement? I need to sell this car and I want to be accurate before I list it. Thanks...Rick

I just had a motor put in my '99. Intermediate shaft failure. Motor was a "refurb" from PCNA. I was told that it had a 2yr warranty.

You might want to get it in writing from PCNA. If the buyer needs that warranty one day, he's going to want more then "ya, the guy that sold me told me that the engine was under warranty".

I had my 2003 C-2 engine replaced under the new car warranty from Porsche; it was going to expire within 6-months when the shaft bolt broke at 23K miles. There was no additional warranty beyond the original warranty because Porsche paid the the whole tab.

However, if you or a third-party (like a aftermarket warranty company) paid for your replacement engine, then you will have a two-year warranty. It sounds like Porsche paid for your replacement so you would not have any additional warranty.

My remanufactured engine feels stronger than the older one.

Remember to break-in the motor again.

I verified yesterday from PNA that it is two years unlimited miles. My warranty co. (and I) purchased the new motor.. Total bill for Porsche shop was over 13K, I had to pay $1200 for new clutch assembly, and other few thing warranty co. would not cover.

Rick - sorry that happened to your engine. However, $1,200 out of your pocket is not too bad, especially since that amount included a new clutch assembly. Was the clutch assembly about $750 +/- ?

Rick,

Just out of curiousity what 3rd party warranty company do you have? I am starting to do some research and appreciate any feedback on how they handled your situation.

Steve, I'm going to list the car at $34,900. it is near perfect, with lots of extras and transferable two-year warranty.

glad it worked for you, We have had 2 engine claims with western general both times the cars were down in the shop over 3 months, western refused to pay what they agreed to pay and the customer ended up having to pay tear down.
one they tried to send a junkyard motor as the replacment.
