Default Remote key closing windows and sunroof?

The video from the factory when the 99 996's came out (posted on Coochas' website) shows the ability to push and hold the remote button and close all the windows and sunroof. I can't do that with my 2000.

Did they delete that functionality, or do I have a problem with my remote?

According to the manual for my '99, roof and windows both can be closed with the key in the door by holding it in the locking position for several seconds or until the windows/roof reach the desired position. The manual claims the roof can also be closed when the car is locked if you press and hold the remote button for 3 seconds (holding button until it closes). I've tried the key with the windows, but haven't tested the sunroof with either method since I rarely open it other than to tilt the rear up.

It does work with the key in the door, but not with the remote. Weird. The key in the door method is not any easier than the three corresponding buttons while you are still in the car and the key is still in the ignition. I wish my remote could do this!

I don't think that feature was on US cars only RoW.
Perhaps recoding the locking system to a European country would allow that function. Sounds feasible but I haven't tried.

Loren: Since you have the computer and know-how....how about trying it and seeing if you can get the remote to work like that on the US cars.??

Could be in the US, there is some safety thing about closing the sunroof without being there to prevent injury in case someone is sticking their arm out, etc? At least closing the windows remotely would be very cool!

I'm pretty sure it's a safety requirement in the US. I recognized that my my BMW X3 opens the windows and sunroof with the remote but doesn't close them. All of my prior BMWs in Europe did both ways with the remote.

Check out Mods 4 cars:

Remote Top

I have one of their products installed (although not remote top) and it works great!
