Post 996 track/street set-up

I have a 2001 996 w/OEM sport suspension. I'm considering using the Cross coilover shocks with 600Lbs fronts and 900lbs rear springs for DEs. Does any one out there have any feedback on Cross products and or suggestions for a 70/30% track/Street combination?

do you really do 70%/30% track/street?
if so, you might want to chk in with moton clubsport. cross doesn't cut it if you that much track work.

also, 600/900 on street will knock out your kidneys. i hope you are towing the car.

I agree, the Moton package is far better and will offer longer hassle free service, albeit more expensive initially. Good luck, Jerry

I just had the JIC's installed last week and used them at the Glen. I went with the 7K/10K springs (that's 393 & 506 lb). I thought that the car really felt planted, especially in the bus stop and T11. I'm not certain of the settings as the shop that did the install set it up for WGI. I will have to back it off a little for the street, but the adjustments aren't too bad.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm running the car this weekend at Road Atlanta and the car handles very well, predictabale but it is a bit mushy. I believe the answer are the Motons, I'll have to try different spring rates to find the tolerable compromise for the street -- that seems the general concensus with the PCA guys as well.

I have a 996 with a Moton Setup that I use on both the track and street. I had EPE set up my car and it is unbelievable. I can drive my car comfortably on the street and very competitively on the track. I would recommend the upgrade.

I too have the JIC Cross with H+R anti-sway bars set-up similar to smankow. It totally transforms the car. I adjust them all the way soft before driving home from the track and it is more comfortable than the stock suspension. With that said, had I the upfront dollars to spend (and a nitrogen tank and VERY accurate needle gauge), I would go with with the Motons. They are infinitely more adjustable and made for purpose-built race cars.

Another brand to consider are JRZ they are as good (actually some say better) than Moton but they cost a little more.

I have the JRZ setup and it is absolutely phenomenal ride and control quality. I had a moton kit on one of my BMW's and they were great. Even though they are different cars, I can tell you that I prefer the JRZ over the moto's. Don't hesitate to spend the difference in money....it's negligible compared to the return.

Same here..............The Racers Group installed my set-up and its probably the best handling car I have owned. JRZ are really worth the extra money IMO.

with 600/900lbs springs the car shouldn't feel mushy. you sure that's what is used? what sway bars are you using? gt3 sways should get rid of the roll and add tunability. motons are great in that you can increase compression damping so that you are virtually increasing the spring rate. my motons with 450/700 lbs are barely streetable.... ok for the freways but rough on surface streets.
