I'm considering a switch. Will 19's even fit on our cars?

There are a few people who have them. They will fit, but you need the right tires. You can call the guys at Wheel Enhancement and they can tell you exactly what you need to make it work for your car. They are great, and know their stuff. I have no affiliation with them, but talked to them about putting 19 sport designs on my former 996 C2.

I'm running 997 Sport Design wheels on my C4S, so a wide body, and you need spacers. 18mm front / 23mm rear will give you 6mm outboard from stock offset in both the front and rear. Works out great.

Oh yes!

997 19" on C2 996

Tire sizes are difficult to purchase as most companies do not make a great selection of suitable 19" rubber.

However - I used 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 Toyo PROXES T1R

Great tires, the correct rolling circumference for the 996, and a nice bead to protect the rim of your new 19" wheels.

Rear tires fill out the wells nicely - front's could do with 7mm spacers added to the 997 rims.

No issues with clearance on my standard suspension set-up:

Nice firm ride - not harsh - still a great feel from the steering and lots of grip.

Hope that helps!

Chris.

So from one Brit to another, yes it will work but do not slam the car to the ground because the tyres will more than likely rub in the back.

BTW...the setup looks good on your car

Curious...are you using 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 tyre sizes?

Mine is lowered and has no rubbing with 19" Champion RG5, and 235/35 front & 295/30 rear PS2s...had fenders rolled, however.

245/35s up front previously, but those rubbed the inner fender liner with the wheel cranked all the way in parking maneuvers.

Had 245's up front on my previous wheels and had the same problem with them rubbing. Looking at mine I would too have to roll the fenders to get wider than 275 in, not doing it.

I was under the impression 235x35 and 285x30 would not rub, without rolled fenders and stock height, true? 19s

This then comes back to the off-set, but I had a 285 in the back without rolling and on stock suspension height, the wheel was a 19x10 with +54mm ET. With my new wheels and ride height I cannot go to 285 or higher without rolling the lip.

just became the proud owner of a 2001 996, and I want to change the wheels, so from your post it looks like I might need new tires? Iwant to change the wheels to the Lobster Claw I currently have the Tornado wheels on my ride, any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thread from the depths of history, but here's my contribution. 1999 C4, had the 18" Turbo-looks, changed to 997 19" Carrera Classics. 11x19" ET 67 rear with 305/30-19 Bridgestone Potenza S-04, 8x19" ET 67 front with 225/40-19. 15mm spacers on the front to clear the lower strut spring perch. A tiny bit of rubbing full-lock when turning, no rubbing on the rear. Stock M030 suspension. So far I like them. Way better looking than the turbo-looks in my opinion.

Personally I wouldn't, but it's your car. Better looking 19's out there .
(see above)

IMO,
Mike
