Default Litronics kinda working? **update... headlight switch replaced **

Wife just called to let me know that her litronics are acting up. Fog lights work. Parking lights work, but the Litronic beam will NOT light up.

So when she gets home I can trouble shoot this what are the things to check?

I assume fuses? Connections? The thing though that has me stumped is it is BOTH sides that are acting this way.

TIA!

My understanding of these lights is that the light itself doesn't usually suffer from sudden failure like a regular tungsten filament but they tend to fail over time. You are probably along the right track with a fuse, although I haven't really had my car long enough to know where to start looking.

Dell,

There have been reports of the actual light switch failing. If everything else checks out (fuses, pulling the lights out and re-seating them, etc.) then it might be the switch.

im assuming its the 996,
the head lmaps are fused individualy so id count them out
its either going to be a headlamp switch or a ign switch

Programmatore is correct I would look at the light switch even if you find a blown fuse because something is sucking to much current and caused that fuse to blow...

Good luck: there's nothing quite as frustrating as trying to diagnose a technical problem described by one's wife/gf/mother

Time to bust out the multimeter. Electrical troubleshooting is a PITA.

I would just start at one end of the circuit and down the circuit.

Well, all fuses check out and the connections seem to work just fine.

What stumps me is:
1. BOTH low beams don't fire up.
2. BOTH parking (daytime type lamps) lamps DO light up
3. BOTH fog lights DO light up
4. BOTH high beams light up if I pull the stalk back (hi beam flash)
5. BOTH high beams do NOT light up when pushing the stalk forward (to turn on fogs)

ARGH!!!!!!!

It's always something isn't it?

Any ideas now that I have troubleshot this one as far as I can???

Hell, it will be light in the morning when the sun comes up, so you won't even need the headlights!

Dell, you're welcome! Glad I could help ya solve this problem.

I didn't have any additional ideas to add to what had already been mentioned by others, so I thought I would try a little humor!
