Default Driving tip learned this morning

Don't try to drive your 996 and break-in a new pair of cowboy boots at the same time... ugh... car was lurching on every shift like a newbie 16 yr. old on Driver's Ed.

I tried to launch pretty hard from a stoplight yesterday in flip flops, caught my left one on the floor mat and couldn't get the clutch out quick enough. Even though I got off the gas pretty quick it burned the hell out of it, smelled like crazy. Luckily I was on the way to the dealer to have the RMS replaced under warranty, I'll have the clutch done too for a few hundred more. From now on no flip flops.

I'll bet those are about as expensive as a pair of Bruno Magli's.

In what situation can one actually wear cowboy boots? I've never been anywhere or worn any clothes and thought "A pair of Lucesse's would work well here."

You mean Lucchese? Yeah, that's what I bought recently. Okay, so for the driving part, you can actually drive with cowboy boots on. The problem with brand new ones is the lack of ankle articulation because the leather's a bit stiff. Once broken in, it's do-able.

This is my first pair of cowboy boots ever, so I haven't quite figured out where I'm going to wear them to yet. I actually just ran out to do errands so I could get a feel for them. Everyone kept telling me these they're extremely comfortable to wear (once broken in) so I finally bit the bullet and tried out a pair. I figure everyone in Texas can't be wrong!

On any typical day, it's a pair of dress shoes that I wear when driving. Good dress shoes work surprisingly well. The leather soles offer pretty good feel.

Son, you just don't understand. But hell, I don't know how to tie shoe laces anyhow. I run with a pretty diverse crowd. Let's seeeee ridin' a Harley in loafers - NAW I just don't think so.

I was wearin boots the day I shot this photo of my 930 and had no problem keepin up with these no-goods.

No problem with the boots and 911 but the colors have to be complimentary - slate and natural hornback crock go well together. In Nevada boots go with everything from a night out in a tux to standing out in the driveway in your boxers and six-gun.

If you have the right size (I have to go to a size 13 boot even though I'm a size 12 shoe) there isn't more comfortable footwear to be found.

Do people that aren't cowboys still wear cowboy boots?

Also, try doing the clutch spring removal mod and driving with flip flops! Can you say toe cramps?

Would love to see those in a driving / track video! I heard bunny slippers make heel-toe a hare easier!

Cowboy boots are silly on anyone who isn't riding a horse.

On a horse.

Those pointy toes seem silly until you're trying to find a stirrup without looking down or dropping a rein. Then they make all the sense in the world.
