Has anyone gone from 265/35-18 to 285/30-18's ?
I have a 99 C4. OEM tires were 265/35-18 on the rear. I am thinking about going to 285/30-18. Has anyone done this? Would I have any problems doing this?
thanks
thanks

I went from 265's to 285's with no problems. Speedo reads fast anyway. Replaced the 265's right after I bought the car, so I can't really compare. Thinking about going back to 265's for my next set because they discontinued the tire I'm using (S-03). I'm thinking about the n-rated Michelin PS2 but you can't buy it in 285's.

You can feel it in spirited driving on the street.
These cars are set up from the factory with moderate {substantial, in my opinion) understeer.
Many here (as have I) have changed out their suspensions to reduce understeer, increase roll stiffness, and improve handling. And many of us reduce rear tire pressures to further help balance the car.
If you autocross or track these cars, understeer is a killer.
Why put a larger rear tire on a car whose rear grip already substantially exceeds the front grip?
It doesn't make sense.
Not to mention, last time I checked, 285's cost more, as much as $30/tire.
