Default Closing the Hood - In Front

Notwithstanding numerous years of ownership, I still can't figure this out. Does one:

a. Drop the hood from a couple feet;

b. Carefully lower the hood until it catches, and then firmly push down the last inch or inch and 1/2; or

c. something else.

My problem is I find myself lowering it down, then pushing repeatedly (4 or 6 times) to finally get it to fully latch. Always been that way. Tried the big drop, and that don't work either.

Thanks.

Believe it or not, there is an official Porsche answer to this (saw it in a video they produced for new 996 owners, linked off this forum the other day). Set the hood down on the latch so that it catches. Then press gently on either side of the emblem to latch it completely. So, kinda like your option B.

Bad link to the video (for me, anyway).

My Porsche mechanic taught me that technique after I told him that I thought the hood latch was out of adjustment.

When my hood is fully open I grab it with both hands and slam it has hard as possible, then I sit on it until it closes. Make sure you don't have keys in your back pocket!!!

That movie was excellent. Way better than working. But that damn trick to get the windows to go up does not work with my key on my 99. Anyone else have this issue?

Hmmm... I push down with my palm directly on the Porsche crest because I don't want finger/hand prints on the hood.

That is one good way to bust your emblem. They are not held on very well (if you ever changed it you'd know). Do NOT do it that way
