Default Can I get the alarm to "chirp" when I lock the car?

Is there any way to get an audible indication that the car is successfully locked? I don't mean the horn honk when something is open, but a noise to say "I'm locked".

A few times I've come back to my car to find it unlocked because I was a little too far away when I pressed the remote, and as I'm walking away I don't notice the indicators not flashing. I would register the lack of a "chirp".

Or find the DIY of how to disable the contact on the rear console. Do a search. I thought I wanted this until I did the sound test....didn't work for my ears?

1) This has been asked / answered a few times. Try the advanced search function.

2) Do the sidemarker flash mod so that you can see your car "blink" from the front.

3) Do the range mod for your car.

4) Just be diligent in looking at your car when you hit the lock button.

2-4 will get the job done most of the time. And #1 will always work

I just enable my lock button a second time quickly after the first time to lock it and that gives me an audible "chirp" that let's me know.

That's what I've been doing the whole time on my 2001 Cab too. I'm suprised no one noticed. The little alarm horn beeps and the turn signals stay lit for ~3 seconds.

I had my stereo replaced and the installer did not disconnect the wire that senses if the radio has been stolen so now my alarm chirps when I lock the car. Some have reported random alarm behavior from this "mod" but my has behaved normally for several months and is fully functional.

The problem with leaving the console open or removing the radio ani-theft wire is that the "chirp" or short beep on the horn is actually the alarm system telling you "somethings wrong". This is definitely not what I want. The double click is also disabling some of the system, so isn't what I'm looking for either. And I didn't find anything else using advanced search I'm afraid!

So I'm afraid the question still stands. Thanks for the suggestions to date though.

Yeah, I suspect a lot of us do the 'walk back to the car to make sure it Really is locked' thing. I tend to do it twice.

The "Smart Top" people enabled the chirp for the 997 within their interface. They have not done this for the 996. I asked them for it and was told that it would not be available. The 996 must have some sort of limitation that we don't understand. Their web site: https://www.wilhelmy-it.de/sms/shop/...tegories&cat=1

I really can't understand why someone hasn't figured this out, or devised some creative way to implement it. I believe they'd sell thousands of them if they were "plug n play" like the Smart Top product.

My 2¢.

I really need to get around to doing the range extension mod. But oh how I am lazy this winter. Plus, this notion of having to cut exact lengths makes me nervous.

Cheap mans Extended range = Holding the remote underneath your chin using your body as the antenna.
