Thanks again Wellemac for organizing the event, they were awesome driving roads.
I will definitely by at Limerock for the Hemmings show on Sunday May 27th, hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Thanks for the compliments on my Cayman S! Means a lot coming from folks who have Porsches like yours. I spent a lot of time pouring over the Order Guide to make sure I got it just right. I knew it would be a real looker (to me and my wife anyway) but am stunned by how well it performed on that drive, especially considering my skill level. Hopefully on the next drive I'll actually be able to rev it past 4200rpm.

Be warned though... Porsches are awesome cars with rock solid stability... right up until they lose it and put you in a ditch.
The newer cars are not as jugular as the older cars used to be... the older cars used to tell you that they were going to rip your throat out and let you respond. The new cars lull you into a false sense of security, then rip your throat out when you least expect it.

Chris is dead on.
These cars (mid or rear engine) are amazing and way beyond most of our skill set. Yes, they can bite you on the street but usually only if the driver is being a JA or does something really stupid.
I have had many students on the track with Boxsters and Cayman S's and mid engine cars are so great on the track but they do give the driver less warning when they are about to let go. That being said, that should not happen on the street. When in doubt, give a little more gas and unwind (don't pinch) the wheel a bit and your P-car will be happy and safe. That is the key to a rear engine car and I'm sure it will work for mid engine also.
Where's my covered bridge pics?

Did I say anything about the street?
Tony echoed my exact sentiment when he said "they do give the driver less warning when they are about to let go". I said nothing more, or less, I just used more colorful language.
You can lose it on the street, but it would take bad driving and poor conditions to do so.
In the UK when I was growing up (think more challenging roads and higher speed limits) it was not uncommon for a 911 to be the death of it's driver... I was telling someone at the drive on saturday that they used to say that the Carrera was the biggest cause of death for UK stockbrokers.

Okay, you have my commitment to a reverse direction run in May (26th?) and a covered bridge tour in July (29th?)
We'll call the may drive Fling Spring and the July run Duck and Cover.
Sign up here to help out and I'll hand out assignments.
