They'll all agree. The only reason they bought new 997's was because they waited too late to buy new 996's. I'm sure they've been kicking themselves ever since!

nah they they bought them because they thought the 997 is better, when actually the 997 is slower the the 996, Porsche used to post 0-62 mp/h specs (0-100km/h) and since the 997 they started posting 0-60 numbers. 0-60 times make it look faster then the 996 when they really arn't.
I feel sorry for those that did get a 997, they should havn't waited until the face lift comes out with DFI and the extra hp. Now that's an upgrade to the 996 but the current 997 is just there to get the 993 crowd to buy a new 911.

say what you want but the 997S is superior in every objective way to the 996.

now if i were to choose between a 997S or a C4S, i'd pick the latter everytime because it looks better in my eyes and i value this more so than the outright performance specs.

choose between a 997S and the uber 911 anniversary edition, i'd go with the former everytime. the 997S not only performs better but it looks fresher, too.

what can i say? i love a wide ****. =D

I agree the 997S is better slightly but your talking alot of $ for slight preformance gains. The 997 non "S" is plain **** and never shoud have came out. I would take a Cayman over it.
They should have made the S the 997 and the 997S the 997S with X51.

How's this for objectivity..... I've yet to be passed by a 997 on the track..... except by street GT3's and GT3 cup cars of course. When the 997's start passing me on the track, then I'll agree that they can outperform my 996. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my car along with my 1,963 fellow 40 Jahre brethren.

Sounds like a bit of an overstatement to say that the 997 is ****. The performance differences between the non S and the S are not THAT different.

Most of the difference between a 40th, a 997, and a 997S likely will be due to driver skill.

Plus no luggage. You forgot to mention it that time.

yes an overstatement. just displaying my dissappointment with the 997 non "S" over the 996. my opinion is they did it to grab money and fool the buyer by givin them a not really improved model and changing the specs to make it look better and then chargin the same price as the outgoing model with the same performance.

Thanks for reminding me. Gee, it just occurred to me that without luggage, the 997 owners have to just toss their garments and toiletries into the trunk and backseat when they travel. Wow, how do they keep their clothes from getting wrinkled and keep mouthwash, toothpaste, and lotion from spilling onto the seats and carpet? That's got to suck!
