Default GT side trim

Hi,

My car came with the GT side trim on it and I wonder how they mount? Anyone here having fitted these parts?

Basically need to know if it is the bolts or the nuts are recessed in to the trim piece.

Also understand that the original parts come with drill stencils and it would really make my day if I could get my hands on these stencil(s) as well!

Ciao,

J.

I think they're attached using 3M double sided tape or glue just like the sideskirts. I am not 100% sure though.

Tom/Moogle at the 996 GT3 forum ordered a set and they came with recessed bolts and stencils for drilling. Could it be that the area gets hot from the mufflers and 3m tape and glue is not strong enough?

Quite possible that they bolt it on because of the heat. I saw a 996 coupe with the GT3 fins but I didn't notice any bolts so I assumed it was just taped/glued on. I will have to look more closely next time.

and that's what you get for thinking..................... They bolt on and come with a stencil kit. Also, your side skirts bolt on underneath. I hope you are not gluing parts onto your car.................... yikes.

Sorry, no stencils, they were on the car. I did crack one a while back when I broke my wheels. The Porsche store replaced but I have no idea what happened to the stencils or if they used them............ Just snug the pieces to the fender well and you'll be fine. Good luck!
