Default X51 kit for $2k?

I found the X51 kit for $2k. That sounds extremely cheap?
Or is the major cost the installation?

X51 kit for which model year and engine?
What does the "kit" consist of?
The price seems extremely cheap and tread with care.
Remember the original X51 upgrade for the 3.4L engine cannot be installed on a US version 996 because the X51 heads do not have the Secondary air injection ports.
I have not researched the 3.6L X51 kit to see what that is yet.
Ciao,
Adrian.

That would be a very very good price for a 3.6L X51. I don't remember what I paid but I recall that it was $6-8k. It should consist of heads, intake manafold, cams, headers, oiling kit, etc. Obviously installation is a pretty big deal.

That might even be a little low for install.

And don't forget the lack of a mounting detail for the bank 2 cam position sensor!

Yeah I forgot that.
Mind you we are still waiting for some details on this kit.
For 2K I cannot believe it is complete regardless of what it's for, unless it's off a wrecked engine.
Ciao,
Adrian.

I found it on
http://www.fvdusa.com/

Upgrade X51 engine (Raises power output to 381 HP) FVD 996 100 X51
Price: $2,000
MSRP: $2,970
Mod. 996 C4S 3.6 / C4 3.6 / C2 3.6 / C4 3.4 / C2 3.4

Maybe it's an upgrade for X51 engines and not the actual X51 kit?

Yea, it looks to be an upgrade to existing X51 engines. I'd guess those numbers are optimistic and I don't see how they can apply to both the 3.4 and 3.6 but who knows.

This is NOT a X51 kit for 2K. This is a mod kit for an existing X51 engine. To be honest I think this is a mod kit for their own X51 kit versions rather than the Porsche kitted engines. The original 3.4L X51 kit only provided 320hp.
It will cost you over 10K (nearly 11K for the 3.6L) before you can even use this upgrade.
Somehow I don't believe their figures showing a 335hp to 381hp increase for the 3.4L engine for just 2K either.
350 to 381hp for the 3.6L is also a stretch for the price.
Ciao,
Adrian.

I believe your first have to buy their 3.8 engine(with 355 hp) then the upgrade to get it up to 382 hp is $2,000...

Exactly, this is a part number for our 3.8L Engine Conversion into 996's and Boxsters to upgrade from a regular 3.8L being put in to an X51 motor being put in. Believe it or not thats how much extra an X51 motor costs from Porsche despite what they charge you guys as an option when you buy the car new!

Evan (FVD)
