Default Porsche Charge-o-mat II - URGENT HELP

Hi,

I need urgent help please.... I'm going away tomorrow and I bought a Porsche Tequipment Charge-o-Mat II, but i'm having problems with it.

I have a MY03 996 cabriolet.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

After i plug in the charge-o-mat into the cigarette lighter, i turn on the power point. The green standby light comes on. I press MODE until it goes to the CAR icon and turns amber. But the other lights do not come on (the 3 lights at the top row (fault, charging and maintenance).

The light should be on maintenance if its trickle charging right???

The manual says either the charge or maintenance light should come out. If not there's a problem with the cigarette socket or the connection.

The only light i get is an amber light on the car icon....

Arggggggh....

thanks

Chucksta

I've got the same device (and also a 2003 Cab) and follow the same procedure (you didn't mention but I assume you plugged the Charge-o-Mat II into a power plug) but the charging light does illuminate. It stayed that way for several hours then switched to the maintenance light. Sounds like either your cigarette lighter connection is faulty or there is something wrong with the charger.

I haven't checked but does the ignition key have to be in "accessory" position for the cigarette lighter circuit to be connected to the battery?

Plug the charger into the wall first=it is a "computer", then plug into lighter socket. It is not a jumper cable.

The instructions explicitly state to plug the charger into the lighter socket and then into the wall.

Mine stays plugged into the wall all the time. I use the car on weekends and plug the lighter back in with no problems. My only other guess is that the lighter is dead=easy to test, or that the COM2 is polarity sensitive at the source?

There is a 6/04 TSB on Renntech relating to loose connection at fuse box, causing poor connection to cigarette lighter, fog lights and heated seats
