Default Typical Insurance costs for 996

Just got to reviewing the monthly $$$ output and realized my '99, C2 Cab's ins. premium is within $1 of my 2001 GMC Yukon. P-car has about 50K on it, the Yukon's got 115K!! Cab's is $535.26 every 6 mos. $250 deductible. I'm 34, married, have three cars and house with Allstate. Yes, I keep about one speeding ticket on record per year. Nothing else, though. How's this compare to some others? Just me or is this high? Heck, my 03 GSXR 1000 was only 600 a year...

The answer depends upon your location and driving record.

I'm in PA and pay $1200 for 3 cars for a year, but that's incredibly inexpensive for PA.

Most pay $700-1000 for 6 months. I'm not sure what I did to get this latest deal.

Huh, wha? 1.2K for three cars, one Porsche, for a year? 1000 dollar deductible? Liability only? Can I have the name and number of your agent? Couldn't stand the cold in PA...

I'm with Travellers Insurance. Comprehensive 300/100K, limited tort. $500 deductable. It's a great deal considering what i was paying only a year ago. Part of the deal was moving my homeowners insurance to them also.

...It's more than I was paying in Massachusetts and I preferred having more snow than I get here.

I'm 26 years old, married, have 2 cars: the 996 & a Nissan Maxima. My insurance premium is $1200 per year with a $250 deductible. This is with AAA (CSAA here in California).

I'm in Canada (Vancouver) and I'm paying about $2000/year with a $300 deductible. That total is with a 40% discount. I can't imagine paying full price for insurance.

I'm betting that the guys quoting the low rates don't have teenagers in their households. Insurance companies nail you two times: once when you turn 16 and then when your kids turn 16.

Nicolaas - one of the provisions in your policy reads "If you drive with the top down in a manner which is too bold, you will go bald." hee hee

Big difference amoung individuals.... Ran it past ins. agent friend and he says I have a few extras I don't need. Bump my deduct. up and so on... funny thing though. I went on my current ins. provider's web site- ran a quote usung my existing terms, and it was nearly 1000 cheaper per year!! Smells a little funny...

Well, I have a similar experience. Until recently we were with Progressive. We noted that every 6 months they would bump up the price. One year we called them on it and shopped everything. Our agent found that if we set up a new policy with Progressive we got a lower rate - sure enough they bumped up the price 6 months later.

When I bought the Porsche I got a good rate from them when I added it to my policy. 3 Months later the policy was up for renewal and they bumped up the price on the cars by 8%, even though nothing had changed.

I cancelled the policy and moved to Travellers - We're done with Progressive, they're very Progressive at twice yearly rate increases and scam artists over their handling of my Porsche.

I'm happy, as I got a great deal with a new company that I might not ordinarily have found and I kissed goodbye to a bad company.
