Hey GAry, "long time... no hear" (or "no here" is more accurate). Haven't heard too much from you lately. How have you been? I'll bet you drove through a mud puddle a month ago, and you just now finished washing, stripping, polishing, and re-waxing the underside of your car, right?

Just wanted to let you know that you've been missed.

Yeah, I'm still here, but have not had much to say lately. I guess I should mix it up a little bit more! I'm still licking my wounds from the spectacular upset at this years Parade for the Concours division award. I was beat by a brand new 997 Club Coupe with less than a thousand miles on it (and trailered to the event) . If there is any consolidation is that he only beat me by a point or so. My downfall was some dirt that was found on top of the exhaust cans.

Thats what I get for actually driving my car, then showing it!

Dummy! What's the matta wit you, driving your car?

Back to the insurance thingie, here in NC we get hammered pretty badly, I can't remember what I pay for both cars and a motorcycle but even with a 1K deductible it's well over 2K a year. Of course, that includes a couple of performance awards.

Sorry to hear that.

That's assinine. They really need to have some adjustment there for cars that are actually used, as opposed to ones that are in factory condition because they are never used.

$1200 a year with AAA for my 2000 996 and a 2004 Lexus RX330 in California. $250 deduct. No kids, just me and the wife (both mid 30's). Clean record. (Thank you, Valentine!)

Note that insurance costs vary widely with your location and theft rates on the vehicle. When we moved from an average neighborhood to the nice burbs, I switched out our '97 Civic and '94 Integra for the cars I have now, and we pay just a little less now than we used to for those two "rip me off please" cars. Even though the asset value changed by $70k or so, the insurance is less due to location and lower theft rates.

Wow! Insurance jackpot! I think that the only thing that could make that more expensive is to add a few moving violations and a few felony convictions.

Yes Oreganet true, also add hitting a deer and a tree and a BMW. Oh wait, that's already in there. Agent says the insurance co. does not raise the rate on the first incident for a driver so theoretically I am paying "normal" rate.
