Clear side markers
I'm told that the factory amber markers come with clear bulbs, but the replacement clear side markers come with amber bulbs (go figure). Are people switching bulbs to have clear bulbs and clear markers? Legal? Should I care?

As I understand it - a LOT of people run white/white and I haven't see a single post where they were flagged for it (although I haven't been watching diligently).

td - that's my understanding also. I'll see how the stock white/amber element bulbs look with the clears - if they detract, I'll just run white/white.

Not legal and looks like crap with clear bulbs and clear markers. WAY too bright. The oranges look just find at nite. Its only the daytime when it matters to look clear.

In my 964 I have clear markers just like my 996. Tried the clear when off and amber when on bulbs in the 964 and cannot get them to light at the same intensity from one bulb to another. Used a vendor on a thread here and even sent 2 back and he said he would match two up. Still didn't work so I gave up and run amber in all. Maybe I am too picky but I do have a college degree in lighting

what you can do is this....put a little triangle on the bottom of the lightbulb. paint the blub silver, take the triangle off and youre done.
enought light goes trough, and during the day it looks clear

I love the LEDs!
I now know how I'll be replacing my dead bulbs in my tail lights - I've been looking for LED versions for months, now I see I can just switch out the bulbs.
