I too do not think that increase hp, but I would like to improve the sound, but without impairing performance. That's why I put the photo of the exhaust cut for understanding what 'better.

keep in mind that the second pic is pretty much a copy or what Porsche does for the PSE - a system THEY developed and sell on thier cars, I am sure it is not performance limiting to a greater factor than they are willing to put up with.... which should be fairly minimal

just my thought

Thanks for pointing me to this thread. Since there is so much to read, can someone please tell me what I need to do to get the best sound from the 3.6 mufflers? I'm going to start at page 1 and hope that I can get a response before I get to page 38, lol.

2.25" seems to be the best size piping? Any pictures of the mufflers stock before the mod so I can compare?

I'm excited about this. Thanks guys!

Great, thank you! So 2.25" is the cats meow for the piping, correct? I think that's all I need now!

Did anyone take this job to a muffler shop? If so, roughly what did you pay?

I am thinking about this mod. Looked at post #520. Great pics. Thanks.

The PO of my 996 had some type of PSE installed as there is the PSE button on the dash near the nav unit. How does this button work?

I adjusted my muffler with a 2-inch pipe, the sound at idle and 'slightly stronger but when accelerating increases without being too strong. Perfect.

I thought PSE was standard on the 40th. If the button was there, maybe he pulled it out.... just press the button (LED on) the go in quiet mode.
