Default cleaning rims

what is the easiest way to clean my rims... feel they are always dirty. Any mechanical items that work?

I use a light spray of Simple Green. Since I use a synthetic sealant on them, the dirt and brake dust comes off very easily with a wet sponge. When the dirt sticks a little, I know it is time to clean them very well and re-apply the synthetic sealant. Many guys use Rejex to seal the wheels. They say the brake dust comes off with the initial spraying of the car prior to washing.

BTW - Did you get your seat fixed? How were you able to get it to move?

I use only car shampoo and lots of water.
Soft sponge on the outside, and a soft long brush on the "inside lips".

If you clean them regularly, it shouldn't be a problem getting the dust off.
It's when you let it sit and bake that the brake dust starts to get stubborn.

No luck yet... have been traveling, so didn't have time to take a look at it. may have to bring it to the stealer.

I'll 2nd the use of Simple Green

Spray on, leave for 2 mins to soak, then use a wool wash mitt to wash the wheels with plenty of additional water - rinsing regularly.

The mitt makes it easy to get around the inside and outside of the wheels, and really lifts the brake dust crud off the wheel.

I keep this mitt for wheels only.

Finally, rinse of with hose to remove any left-over Simple Green.

Chris.

I use the same technique as Chris and Tim - I've got the same wheels you do. A coat of Rejex goes a long way towards keeping them easy to clean. By the way, I use a "dedicated" wooll cleaning mit - that way I won't have to worry about scrubbing the car's paint with any crud from the wheels. I also use a separate bucket of sudsy washing mix for the wheels - for the same reason. Hey, if we weren't a bit obsessed about our cars, we'd be driving Kias.

Lots of water and small sponge. But I like the mitt idea. I also clean them one a week. Be careful with clears as some will eat the glue on your wheel weights.

Soap and water and a commercial wheel cleaner like Simple Green. Then add a layer of Rejex over the top and then all brake dust rinses off like melted butter with just plain water from the hose and a min wipe down.

Here's a good brush for the inner portion:
I have a 6 yr old 10" brush, and its just about time for a replacement, so they hold up pretty well.

available here:

I just use my regular car wash, although I also use a dedicated mit. I simply do the wheels last so as not to use any contaminated car wash solution on the body.

I think the brushes are excellent for 'complex' wheels with small spaces between spokes.

However, the wheels that Dutchie in NC has will be easy to clean with the wool mitt, inside and out.
