Default light scratch removal

What does the membership recommend for taking out light scratches without doing any damage?

Everyone will have their favorite products, but I've always had success with 3M Finesset II - it removes surface scratches without harming clearcoat, but if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, you'll likely not remove it with this product. Once done, I cover with Zaino Z5 Pro - it will optically hide minor surface scratches. Good luck.

I agree with Phil about the 3M Finesse It II. If that will not remove the scratches, that means that they are a little deeper and may require more aggressive polish like 3M Perfect It II, which is a Fine Cut Rubbing compound. It You use the 3M Perfect It II to remove the scratches, you will want to follow that up with 3M Finesse It II to remove the minute scratches that Perfect It II may have left while it was removing the deeper scratches.

Start out wit the lease aggressive polish. You can always get more aggressive and then work you way back to least aggressive.

About three weeks ago, on a Friday evening I:
1) washed my car
2) clayed the entire car
The entire process took about 2 hours

On Saturday morning I:
3) polished the entire car with Perfect It II
4) polished the entire car with Finesse It II
5) polished the entire car with a pre-sealant enhancer
6) sealed the car with a synthetic polymer
That took me about 6 hours

This morning I washed my car and applied P21S Carnuba wax. The wash and wax took me 2-1/4 hours. I think the car looks good! In fact I just added a thread with a few pics. Here is the link to that thread. Good luck with the scratches.

Default Light scatches

I have a black '04 C2 that had some acid rain damage with some scatches. I have used EagleOne Nanowax with excellent results. It does need to be rewaxed every 4-6 wks but it looks great and is super easy and quick.

Tim's right about the Perfect It II - I also use both 3M products as described and have been very satisfied with them. BTW Tim, your Lapis car is just gorgeous after it's pretty extensive detail.

I would also recommend getting some Meguires Cleaner Wax. It does a great job removing light scratches.

I had the same issue when I purchased my black C2 - previous owner had left some scratches in the finish - light only, but on a black car.......

I used a porter cable polisher, with a polishing pad from Autopia Car Care - the SWIRLBUSTER

I used the Sonus Swirlbuster Polish with the pad, and it does a fantastic job with light scratches and swirls - really takes them out.

Just wax after that and you are good to go:

BEFORE (with swirls)

AFTER (no more swirls)

Thanks - actually thanks to David at Autopia.

he gave a great demo for us at a San Diego Porsche club meeting - and this pad and polish are new this year and really work better than anything else I've tried.

He convinced me that the Porter Cable was easy and safe to use, and since then I've not looked back.

Chris.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the comment. I believe the club has another event with me this month. We're going to go deeper into paint care with a lot of hands-on. Y'all can torture the test mule and my Cayenne.

I think it's on the 21st (full day event). I'll have to confirm with Lynn...
