Default steering wheel leather restoration?

Anyone found a way to restore a light colored (savanna beige) steering wheel? Right where my hands have been for years the color is gone and it is quite dark, and somewhat worn. I've tried cleaning, but come to the conclusion that the color is gone. Any relatively permanent solutions out there? Thanks.

I used these guys http://www.aglausa.com/ when I wanted to recover my standard black 4 spoke. The original leather was really slick and shiny and had no grip.
They have a lot of leather options and the fit is factory perfect. At the same time I also had them add the 'thumb rests' and even though the 4 spoke doesn't look as elegant as a factory 3 spoke or tequipment wheel it works for me and I didn't have to replace the airbag.
They sent a loaner wheel to use while mine was being recovered and the whole thing cost something like $450 iirc.

I've heard good things about AGLA (Alan Gunn Leather) and have a steering wheel there for recovering as we speak.

Thanks. I will seriously consider recovering.
I also just found leatherworldtech.com on the web and they have porsche savanna beige dye and kits for restoration. Any one used them or another like them?

I have used AGLA for my 944 wheels in the past and for the gear shifts also. Good products. But I had the same problem as listed above with my 996 wheel when I first bought it and I found a brand new 3 spoke on ebay for $99! It was a steal but they are out there so just be patient.

Hello everyone,

friends told me that my services might be needed over here, so I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Paul Champagne and I do leatherwork, mainly for the 928

In terms of steering wheels, I can show you examples of both 928 and 944 factory wheels that I restored. I also do custom wheels.

My price is $225.00 + $25.00 shipping in the US
That includes a new, hand laced leather cover for the wheel itself + a French seamed leather cover for the horn pad or airbag + the engraving of your choice.
A metal crest can be substituted for the engraving with the addition of the cost of the crest itself.

Here are a few examples:

I would invite those interested to click on the link in my signature to see more of my work.

I can be reached through PM or email at champagn@stx.rr.com

Thank you all for your time

Paul

Based on personal experience, avoid agla, alan gunn, Custom Steering wheels.
do not use him, quality is poor and he is impossible to reach by phone. Lots of excuses/lies.

Dude...you almost set a Rennlist record by raising a necro thread from 2006.

Well just want to warn people about this guy and save them the trouble.

I wish I had done a thorough search before dealing with him.

Same type of comments on other forums as well.
