After being without a 911 for almost 3 years (sold my 964 c4 for a Cayenne S), I just purchased a VERY dark green 1999 996. The paint code is L2B4 and the label inside the trunk states the color as "TANNENGRUENMETALLIC". I searched the the threads and found mention of "rain forest green" and "forest green metallic". Is there a more 'common' name for this color?
Also, on the option codes the last number is "00501". Does any one know what that stands for? - it is not listed on any of the decoder sites I have found.
Thanks in advance - it's nice to be back in a rear engine Porsche.

pj,
Make note that Rain Forest Green Metallic (Pearlcoat) is code L2A1 aka (Porsche Dschungelgruen Metallic) and is distinctly lighter than Forest Green which is L22E. I assumed my car was Forest Green per the seller and ordered a spoiler painted. Way darker than my car and then I looked up my code and I have a L2A1 Rain Forest Green.
Funny thing is that I cannot find your color 2B4 on the WEB. The only greenish I see from 99 was Ocean Blue and Ocean Jade. Jade was dropped in '00. Wonder if yours was a custom color.

RB,
Thanks for the info, I also could not find anything on this code. I think it looks fantastic (maybe a little biased though). In the shade it 'almost' looks black, but where light hits it - the green comes out. I am curious how common (or rare) this color is?

pj,
Found your color but only shows available on 2004 and later models. Weird how you got it on a '99.
Looks very similar my L2A1 on the swatches online - but I found it on one site called Forest Green L2B4. My guess is you have what is now called Forest Green which would be the darker green.
Check out expresspaint.com and paintscratch.com which is where I finally found it referenced. Check 2004 thru 2006 years

L2B4 = Forest Green Metallic
Standard Porsche Color. And yes, plugs and other goodies are available.
