Looking for a 2000 Porsche Owners Manual
I recently purchased a 2000 996 Coupe, that did not come with an Owner's Manual. Does anyone have one available, for sale, or know where I can purchase one?
Only one was available on eBay over the last few weeks at a price of $249. Seems awefully steep for a bound manual in the original leather case.
In one of the other threads, someone mentioned Sunset Porsche in Oregon, I presume that most dealerships can/will order a complete manual, but I am not sure what it costs.
Any information or leads is appreciated!
Thanks,
-- Jeff

If it's just an owners manual, there's places you can download them on-line. I'm sure others will chime in.
Mechanics manual is a different story. Those are available on CD-ROM. You can either buy it from Porsche (ouch) or find a pirate copy.

2000 996 Manual
Hey,
I was in the exact same situation when I got my 996. Sunset came through for me as well. I do not recall the price exactly, but I do recall that it was a very reasonable price and they shipped it right away. Best of luck.

Yes, the one on eBay for $249 does include the leather wallet. But I now see that there are other complete sets (1999, 20002) with the leather wallet selling for $50 on eBay, but none yet for the 2000. I will check with Sunset to see if they have one. Also, does anyone know of a online set that at least has .pdf so I can do some Sunday reading? I have not been able to find a link to a 2000 manual.
Thanks,

I believe you need to sign up to be a member to see it, but it is free.
the 2003 manual should be pretty much the same.

PM me your information - I am pretty sure I received 2 manuals when I bought my 2000 last year - the original set was with the car and Porsche mailed me a brand new set bound in leather. Assuming I have 2 of them, you can have one. I will check tonight and confirm with you no later than tomorrow.

BTW, I checked with Phil at Sunset Porsche earlier today and they will send me the complete kit, including the leather binding, for $63.50. Incredible price considering the Yahoo on eBay wants $249 for a used kit.....of course "asking is one thing, selling is another!"
If you can't find your extra kit, I will order it new from Sunset.....a great group of guys and gals, highly recommended!

Jim - I sent you a PM. Guys, I tried to be a good rennlist citizen, but I apparently have second copies of everything but the manual. With these prices, maybe the original owner sold it on ebay! Sounds like another purchase for Sunset. From everything I read here about those guys, they seem to be the only people selling Porsche stuff at fair prices.

Sean, I received your PM. No problem and thanks for checking just the same! I appreaciate the kind gesture and offer to help out a fellow Porschephiliac! At $63 the cost of a new leather bound kit is nominal, $249 is another story. Sunste's fair price puts them at the top of my list.
