Default radio problem

almost everytime i get in my car my security light is flashing on the stock radio and the radio will not respond to any changes volume - on/off or input. i am able to fix this by hitting the ejecet button & closing the radio immediately. why does this happen & how can i fix this? it is a 99 c4 w/o the hifi i believe. I tried searching the forum but found no help.

The security light normal flashes - unless you program it to be off.

If it is a factory radio it will say something like "Porsche CDR-220" on the front.

it is indeed a cdr 220 - as well i noticed that i am not able to switch to the cd changer too. All of the wiring for the changer was replaced by porsche when i bought the car

Look in your manual for more info. but I would remove and carefully clean the contacts on the (removable) faceplate.
If the dealer replaced the wiring and it is not working right then they may not have gotten all the plugs on the rear of the radio plugged in. You will need a set of radio keys to remove the radio and check (about $2 from Becker) - or you could make them fix it since they worked on it last.

When I bought my '04 C4S from a dealer, it had the factory radio and CD changer. The radio would mysteriously cut out either with or without using the CDC. The dealer replaced the radio but the problem persisted - under further investigation, a CDC fault was identified (not sure what code it was), and the CDC was then replaced - now the entire system works perfectly. All covered under warrantee.

Sorry, but the radio in a MY04 is a CDR-23 which is completely different than the CDR-220. CDR-23 is on the MOST bus and uses fiber optics whereas the CDR-220 is all "wired".
