Default Wheel well question????

Ok, so I maybe crazy but I cant remember what the inside of my rear wheel well looks like.

The reason I ask is that I had an exhaust put in yesterday. I was looking at it today and I can not remember being able to see the mufflers from inside the wheel well. Is there not a plastic covering? Could be the shine is what I am not used to; however, I just thought there was a backing between the wheel well and the exhaust. Below is what I am seeing. Can you see strait though to your exhaust? Thanks!

There is supposed to be a plastic wheel well cover. You can see(even in your picture) where the mounting screws attach.

Yeah, I see straight through to the muffler too from that angle, no plastic cover in the wheel well in that location. I hope I am not missing it too BTW my car is a '00 C2 Cab.

Same here......no cracks on the dirt. I visited my homesite yesterday to meet with my builder and I swear they are manufacturing red clay mud on purpose!

Thanks guys. I work beside Porsche of Arlington and stoped by today and checked out 5 996s...yes this is normal, there is no plastic backing in the rear wheel well (ful). I thought my shop may have for gotten someting. It looked different because a), they used new shiny screws to put in the backing that is there, b) the new exhaust is really shiny, and c) there is a lot of extra room in there now. All of these thins made me think that something was wrong.

I've gotta check this now. I could swear that I didn't remember seeing the exhaust, but then again, it surely accounts for that burnt rubber smell after hard driving as bit of augmented camber aligned wheels spew traction onto the hot muffler.

I am glad that my car is not missing anything, Ooff!. I would think someone out there would make a protection guard in that location to avoid what Edward just said above for track people, or in rain/snow/salt for others, would help protect the new shinny exhaust cans for some
Cheers,
