Default Q for those who hardwired V1 into phone connector

how did you run the wire under the steering wheel?

was it behind the carpet where pedals are or some other way? thanks...

I mounted my V-1 just to the RIGHT of the rear view mirror. Therefore, the wire never needed to pass under the steering wheel. Across top of windshield, down A pillar, under pax airbag, and into console behind radio to be connected to waiting switched power and ground on the factory telephone connector.
Invisible all the way, except for the 3 or so inches between the V-1 and the windshield seal.

I mounted and wired my 8500 exactly as Kim did his V-1.

i put my radar to the left of the mirror.

i love to have the radar mounted as close to the line of sight as possible. in other words, i wouldn't have to take my eyes of the road or move my head to see it. even mounted to the left of the rear view mirror it is still pretty high up for my taste. if i dont get used to it been so high, i might move it to above the dash or under the mirror.

I left enough slack at the end of the wire to allow me to mount left or right of the mirror, as well as using on the passenger visor (so the suction cups aren't visible), but that would be in conjunction with the remote display.

It really should not matter which side A pillar you run down since your cord is going to have to be the same length, you're going center to side to center either way.

The only thing to make sure if you go down the driver's side is that the cord is secure in the footwell area and won't accidentally get in the way or tangled with your feet/pedals. Behind the carpet seems good, I ran a wire for an OBD to data acquisition connection that way.

I went under the steering wheel area, not under the carpet.

I ran my wire through pass. side of a-pilar down. Tuck in the wire between a-pilar and the window gap. All the way down and then make a turn at the corner of a-pilar and dash corner. Then tuck in the the wire in the gap of dash and a-pilar. Run down between the weather strip and side vent gap. Going through the bottom of glove compartment. under the glove compartment you can find plenty of space between the bottom board and the compartment to run the wire all the way to telephone outlet. Hope this will help.

I just tucked it back there, and when I ran it to the phone connector I went behind this metal support which anchors it. The wire is also taut enough (but not super taut) that there is no way it will slip from behind the steering wheel area panel.
