Thumbs down RMS - MAG Porsche Service in Columbus OH, POOR

I just had the rear main seal replaced with the new version using the new installation tool at Beechmont Porsche in Cincinnati. When the tech got into the job he found that MAG had used silicone seal on the RMS they replaced in December. They put the old style seal in at that time and they used silicone seal on it . Next he found that they put the wrong intermediate shaft seal in my car. They used the old version, which does not fit the 02 cars. The Beechmont tech was of the opinion that this could have caused a major problem.

No PPI would ever find that problem. Fortunately my car is in warranty, CPO, so I was out nothing. Can you imagine the engine letting loose and having no idea why? I wouldn't let MAG Porsche work on a wheelbarrow.

Midwestern Auto Group (www.magcars.com) They're the biggest Porsche dealer in Central Ohio. Unfortunatly I had enough issues with them on my Audi and BMW to not use their services again.

I would be writing some serious letters, get the technician to verify in writing what was done. That is beyond negligence.

Most of the Mid-Ohio Region PCA members buy Porsches from Byer's Imports.

I Just got off the phone with the service manager from MAG Auto. He told me that the intermediate shaft repair was done by an apprentice and that the part was correct. He also told me that the RMS was done by his Porsche Master Tech and that he stood by his repairs as being correct. So I guess Porsche has issued a new TSB stating to use silicone seal on the RMS. Now I know why I had all the silicone seal in an engine from BodyMotion, they read the same TSB.

I would ask to see a copy of the TSB outlining the use of silicone. Also, you might want to pop over to renntech.org and see what Loren knows. He usually has a good ear to the ground for stuff like this.

Hence the reason I told him to get a copy of that TSB. I smell bullsh!t on the part of the dealer and I would be F-IN pissed!
