Default About to BUY this 996, Need Opinions, PIC too

Well, after looking for a month I have found a 2000 996 black on black, aero, with 21000 miles for $43500. I just test drove it today and wow was it tight! I tested other 996s with just a few more miles that were nowhere near the handling feel of this car. The car was in excellent condition with hardly any visible wear and tear. The Carfax was the best I had ever seen on a 2nd owner. No issues and the car has not left the city it is presently in so the same dealer has maintained it throughout. I have yet to have a PPI done but plan on one ASAP.
So I have a few questions:
The owner states a sport exhaust but I cannot find it in the option codes. There is a 09981 and the 09991 code but do they relate to the exhaust? I have also heard that it was NOT an option in 2000. Is that correct? How can I tell if it had one installed later?

Is this a fair price for this car in such a cherry condition?

Will a PPI detect a potential RMS issue?

Thanks for all your help and as this board has taught me so much. Here is my potential new girl...

Sport Exhaust is option XLF. If delivered from the factory, this should be on the label on the underside of the trunk hood.
You can look at the exhaust cans, and if they look like this:

or like this:

it is Porsche Sport Exhaust.

Re: "will a PPI reveal a RMS leak?" Possible.

The car looks beautiful, and has few miles - less than 4k per year, not too few. A PPI should definitely note a leaking RMS!

I would negotiate the price, but if you've been looking for awhile and you're very happy you may not need the best price in the world for it to be a good value for you.

Good luck!

I agree with Rob - you could spend the next 6 months trying to find a car at a lower price, or you can buy the one you're obviously excited about.

I'd go in and offer $39,000 for it, but go as high as $41,000 - it looks like an awsome car.

I agree...upper 30s is where I'd want to be on the car.

Zoolander, you probably know that car has been for sale for a month or 2 now...he has stated he had people interested in buying but no one has pulled the trigger...probably because the car is priced a few grand over.

The most I'd probably pay is $39-40K...

You're going to smile every time you get in that car. I do with mine.
True you can possibly save a some money, but if they won't negotiate down, are you willing to walk away from the car you want?

Smiles are worth money IMO. The question is: For you, is waiting a few months for a different car at a better price point worth missing out on P-Car smiles for those months? And will you be kicking yourself for the one that got away?

By all means... negotiate. But in the end, only you can decide what the car is worth to you.

You wanted a specific car and that makes it harder.

I paid $51k for my 01 C4 Cab a few months ago which was probably a bit high. But I knew EXACTLY what I wanted and it was hard to find. I don't regret paying the price one bit.

Black Aero can't go wrong!

09991 is the exclusive option code so there must be some exclusive options.

If you love it DO IT you won't regret the purchase.

Nice. Personally, I don't like the 996 Aero package, unless it's on a true 996 GT3...but to each man, his own. Squeeze the trigger at $40K, and enjoy her!

I agree. I paid slightly less than that for a pristine, heavily optioned 2000 cab with similar mileage .... over 18 months ago. The price included a dealer PPI, and all repairs identified as necessary on the PPI.

The price is not way too high, it's a few thousand too high. Just offer him $39K and see what happens. He can only say no then at that point will you be stuck with the decision to pay more or not.

What are the options on the inside of the car?
