About to BUY this 996, Need Opinions, PIC too

I disagree slightly with a few of the other posters. That price is a little high, but not bad.
Consider the following;
- You indicate that it is in "excellent condition" and "very tight".
- It is what I would consider well optioned and it has the Aerokit (option codes should be listed under the front hood).
Due to these two factors alone it should be worth more than the average 2000.
Also consider the likelyhood of finding a similar used car any time in the near future. Porsche certainly built more 996's than 993's however, they did not by any means build a ton of them. You will not find a huge supply of used black 996's w/aerokits on the market at any one time.
Good luck!!

My reaction is the same that it seems to be a little high for an 00'. It does have low miles and a factory aero package. If it was an 01', it would be more inline in the price. I would say it is a $40K car providing there are no problems, including RMS. I believe it is gong to bring more than $30's because of the low mileage and the desireability of the aerokit. PPI will find if there is a RMS or IMS issue. I wouldn't do anything before the PPI.

I tested other 996s with just a few more miles that were nowhere near the handling feel of this car. The car was in excellent condition with hardly any visible wear and tear. The Carfax was the best I had ever seen on a 2nd owner. No issues and the car has not left the city it is presently in so the same dealer has maintained it throughout. I have yet to have a PPI done but plan on one ASAP.
So I have a few questions:
The owner states a sport exhaust but I cannot find it in the option codes. There is a 09981 and the 09991 code but do they relate to the exhaust? I have also heard that it was NOT an option in 2000. Is that correct? How can I tell if it had one installed later?
Is this a fair price for this car in such a cherry condition?
Will a PPI detect a potential RMS issue?
Thanks for all your help and as this board has taught me so much. Here is my potential new girl...

The trigger has been pulled. I just put a deposit down pending the result of the PPI. I really would have liked to have gotten him down to at least $42000 which I felt was the true value of the car due it's pristine condition. He was a good salesman and I didn't have the luxury of time.
Here are some of the other options:
Litronic Headlights
Sport Exhaust installed after purchase by Porsche (sweet sounding!)
Comfort Seats with heat, positral and lumbar
Aluminum Instrument Dials
something from the exclusive-programme? code 09991
lots of other small items but no 030 liked I had hoped.
It does come with a catalytic converter...whew I was worried.
Since I plan on running the One Lap with my father I will be taking it to the track from time to time. I am so anxious to get a feel for this beast as my last street/track car was a E46 M3 which I later sold to purchase a race prepared 1975 BMW 2002 . Wow, I thought I knew how to drive until I drove that 2002. I learned more in one school with that car than I did in 7 schools with the M3. I still race the 2002 but am looking forward to a great experience with my father in the One Lap. He is getting older and we have talked about this event for years. Time to do it!
My first upgrade will probably be better brake pads. Do I need stainless steel brake lines?? I will also go to the ROW 030 suspension. Don't know what will be next as the budget will dictate the rest. Any budget tweaks??

Why dont you get this? a bit more expensive, but it is an 02, and a C4S. Don't know if this is too cheap to be true, but worth looking at i think.

Buddy, I have been looking for 3 months at tons of 1999's here in Southern California........hard tops with 20k to 30K for low $30's even $29k......I just yesterday bought a triple black 99 C4 Cab with 40k miles for $33k.....every option possible....flawless, with 2 minor dings that are going to cost $150 from dentless repair guy........save some money and keep looking.....worth a plane ticket cost even if you can find out of your area......just my thoughts.

is it? have you looked at the carfax? When i first looked at it, i thought it was cheap but not too cheap. The KBB for an 02 C4S, with that sort of mile, is around $47k to $48k for dealer trade in price, So if they sell it for $50k, not too out of line.
Anyway, MRPC12 says this is a Lemon, so...forget this car. Keep looking.

Sorry, didn't realise that you already made a decision. Congrats.

You guys are making me like I about to make a mistake. In my opinion I feel I will be paying about $2000 too much. I can handle that because I feel I would regret letting this car go and would not be able to find one is such good condition in proximity to where I live. I have always dreamed of owning a mean looking black 911.
It is still an option for me to let it go and eat the $500 deposit.?
The car will be getting the PPI tomorrow.
