Default touch up paint color match?

I bought some touch up paint for my cararra white 996 (got a rock chip )

I put the touch up paint on, and the white is not really the same color... the touch up paint is cararra wiess which is cararra white, but the touch up paint looks lighter.. the paint code on my car is LB9a, the touch up paint is just B9A, but it does say Cararra Weiss on it.

Are the touch up paints just soft of off in color, is white just a hard color to match, or did they give me the wrong touch up paint??? Its not waaaay off, but to a perfectionist, you can tell its not the same white....

PS. i am by no means a perfectionist, just picky.

Did you buy the touch-paint from the stealership or the web? Did the paint fill the chip fully or did it sag like cheap spackle?

Delirium - I bought some touch up paint from Auto Visuals for my Lapis Blue '04 996. The color match was perfect. Here is their link.

I do think whites are hard to match, but doesn't paint color also slightly change over time with exposure to sun, contaminants, etc.? And don't clear coats also yellow slightly over time? Maybe that's why the fresh touch up paint is whiter than the car? (just guessing here)

Good point, the difference is that my existing paint is more yellowish... it may be that it is 'cured' or whatever, so the color is different.

Good question, are the tips on the auto visual pens fine or thick? Is the paint blobby or fine? I have heard differing stories...

The tips on the Auto Visual pens are thick. But if you have a very small paint chip, you can get a little excess paint on a non porus surface and use a wooden toothpick to apply the paint.
