Hitting the curb
Rear right tire hit the curb when making a tight turn this morning... by looking at the photos, should I:
-buy a pair of new tires and do alignment,
-buy a pair of new tires,
-use stapler and Scotch tape
Thanks and sorry for the bad quality cell phone photos.

Definitely change tire, have alignment checked. You may want to get the wheel repaired also to save some labor while the tire is replaced. I'd not drive with that tire. It's pretty torn up.

Ouch! In the first photo, I think I can see the belts of the tire so the tire is no longer safe.
my answer is: replace the tire (or tires if the tread depth from new is too low) and check the alignment.
To fix your wheel, there is a DIY on renntech.org that shows you how to fix curb rash.

Also have someone take a close look at the suspensoin links, they are designed to bend in impacts such as this. If the rim is bent check them for sure if not you probablly don't have a problem.

Tires are about 60% and I running with Pirelli PZero Rosso, do I have to stick with the brand? Just wondering since I want to try different tires. Thanks much for your feedbacks.

IMHO I would either replace the tire with PZero's or replace all 4 tires with a different brand. I usually like to keep all 4 tires the same brand on my vehicles.
Sorry about the wheel, that's a bummer!

Measure the tread in the middle and you can tell exactly how much tread you have. New is 10/32".
If you decide to replace both sides, I may buy one that is not damaged from you if the thread is at least 6/32. PM me if that's what you decide. I have a used rear that's identical to yours that I can pair up and use.

Thanks Woody, but the review on PZero's tread wear issue is pretty poor. I just called around and shops are asking for $350 each 285/30/18. If I run PS2 at rear would it cause problem in handling?

Yeah it was rubbed and scratched during a tight turn in downtown LA this morning going to work. I was shocked seeing some rubber scraped hanging on the side wall... Just called around and ordered 2 tires, with tax and balancing, charge = $780. What an expensive day...

Personally, I'd either put Pirelli back on your rear(s) or change out all 4 if you switch brands. There's any number of folks in here who swear there's no problem running different brands on the car as long as they stay on the same axle; they might be right. I'm just leery of mixing tires that might have diffrerent handling dynamics on the same car.
