Default Keyless entry not working??

Hi,
My Keyless entry just stopped working this weekend. I changed the battery on the key and checked all my fuses under the steering wheel. Is there something that I missed to check? Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I dont want to go to the dealer, pay 100s of $$$ have them tell me that it was something that I could have done.

Thanks!!

Maybe the transmitter in the key. I have two keys, one works perfectly, the other quit working, tried new battery, but still no good. If you have two keys try the other one.

Check renntech to find the correct procedures to 'restart' a key fob. It requires putting the battery back in with the polarity reversed for a few seconds before re-inserting properly.

I tried it with my flakey fob and it worked perfectly after that.

I assume the vehicle hadn't just gone into sleep mode due to lack of use?

Chris.

I would find another dealer. There must be many out there in SoCal.

Here in Atlanta, programming TWO keys cost me $49. They did it in 10 minutes while I had a cup of coffee.

Also, the key heads and shafts are available for a lot less than you apparently paid:

Cut key shaft, ordered by VIN from Sunset: $80.
Brand new remote key head on Ebay: $50.
Valet key head ordered from Sunset: $22.

Same thing happened to me just yesterday. Hadn't driven the car all week. Came home, went to get in and keyless entry wouldn't work. Tried walking all around the car while pushing - nothing happened. Unlocked manually, went out for ride and grabbed a bite to eat, then it worked just fine. Will it go into sleep mode if alarm is on all week with no use?

Something must be in the water. Same deal. Away for a week, tried to unlock with keyless and got nothing. Unlocked manually, and the keyless entry seems to be working ever since.

From my understanding the car goes into sleep mode when it does not have any activity for over a week. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, just unlock manually and start her up. Then the fob works.

After 5 days the red light stops flashing to conserve battery power and then the key must be used to open the door. All perfectly normal.

yes that is right - 4-5 days of no use means the key less entry switches off.

Correct and to reset it, just unlock with the key and then hit the key fob. Back to normal.

Out of town for 10 days and the remote stopped working. I drove around for a few days and it still wouldn't work.

I had to unlock manually, put the key in ignition, press the button. Not it's back to normal. Thanks guys!

Sleep Mode! 5 days inactivity remote won't work. Must manually open lock with key.
Doesn't anyone read the manual anymore/
