Post X51 Information.

Does anyone know what the part code would be to order a complete motor from the factory that had the X51 kit installed?

Thanks

I don't know that they will sell a complete engine/X51 (reasonably). I heard the cost on a stock 996 engine (from a dealer) as $28,000. Then add the cost of $10,000 for X51 (cost installed at production) and you've got a $38,000 engine.... hmm maybe a TT engine is cheaper?

Another option is that you could by an X51 engine upgrade kit ($7,000 from Carnewal.com) and find a good mechanic to install it on your (MY02 or 03 only) car.

From my understanding some of the X51 parts are on consrtiction until Dec/Jan as there is a limited supply and they are primarily using them in production vehicles.

Ed,

Gert has them for sale on his site so I am assuming he can get them.

Cool

The only part in particular I was made aware of was the headers, from someone who was considering ordering them. Gert may have better access to parts on the other side of the pond.

Question

I wonder why X51 is only for 6spd. and not TipS? TipS tranny will take xtra hp/tq because I'm told its the same tranny used for the Turbo.

Infact all 02 carrera tips come with the same gearbox used by the turbo. Good point Don, so does anyone know the answer to that one

Dennis, you have a 3.4l... that changes everything, why don't you contact TPC about the supercharger kit... more HP and much cheaper? The other option is to get a GT3 engine. They are reasonable available in the US. Why are you looking to swap motors verses upgrading the whole car?

Question

That's what I mean 02 Targa, if the Tip tranny is grong enough for the Turbo, it should be able to handle the extra hp/tq of the X51 upgrade. Does anyone know of any reason why this can't be accomplished?

Per Loren,
"I don't know that they will sell a complete engine/X51 (reasonably). I heard the cost on a stock 996 engine (from a dealer) as $28,000"
I've been told (from a reliable source) the dealer cost on a 3.4L crate motor was $8200. I guess there is $20k profit for the dealer, if so they should be wearing a ski mask.
