Default Parking in NYC???

I'm going to be in NYC Tuesday through Friday and need to park my car somewhere for the duration of the stay. Any suggestions?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with garages in the Upper West, but there are definitely many up there. Choose a garage that is not overly filled and has a decent selctions of cars. Tip on drop off and they will take care of you

if you have friends living in upper west side, ask if their building has parking in basement, and open to visitors.

i found out this is better than open lot parking facility on the street.

we usually park at the park and lock on 42nd street, it is easy to get to from the henry hudson, ie the hutchinson parkway. close to subways.

We haven't taken the Porsches there but always park our audi and never had a scratch, ding, etc, and it is one of the cheapest in NYC as a day rate as we have found, but never stayed for several days.

It is directly at the mouth of the Lincoln tunnel as well.

Best of luck!

Unless I know the building parking, the second choice for me is what think was just recommended above. http://www.panynj.gov/tbt/pabmain.HTM

There are lots of garages around west end. I used to live at 55 West End and there is a garage across from it. It's not self park but price is reasonable. Walk to Bway and Licoln Centeris 4 blocks. My monthly parking was about $350/mo in 98. Most places were charging $500+. I'm sure their hourly rate is reasonable.

What ever you do, do not park on street overnight. Tristate is horrible for car thefts and bumper rubs.

42nd and 12th, 2 blocks south of the intrepid museum - great place to park.

lock your car and take your keys, its a normal parking lot (rare)

i would never park at the type where you leave your keys and they move your car around/stack it to maximize their lot earnings.

if you need to park inside for a day or two, use the garage at the waldorf=astoria

Eli, Tom and I are in agreement regarding 42nd st, the "Park and lock", or at least that's what you'll see on the side of the buiding but is also called manhattan plaza.

Huge thanks guys. I ended up taking the train in, but will keep the Park and lock in mind the next time I drive up.
